Shimadzu Launches GCMS-TQ RX Series

New triple quadrupole GC-MS platform targets high-sensitivity testing in labs.

Shimadzu Scientific Instruments has introduced the GCMS-TQ RX Series, a triple quadrupole gas chromatograph mass spectrometer aimed at laboratories conducting high-sensitivity analytical testing across pharmaceutical, environmental, food safety and other regulated applications. The system combines Shimadzu’s GCMS hardware platform with updated automation, software and workflow features intended to support more efficient method development, quantitative analysis and routine operation.

The series includes a multimode injection unit, dedicated method-creation software and proprietary thermal insulation technology designed to improve temperature stability while enabling faster heating and cooling. The GCMS-TQ8050 RX model also incorporates a newly developed patented detector with noise-reduction and amplification technologies, along with a dual off-axis configuration intended to reduce background noise and improve signal clarity.

The platform supports automated method optimization through Smart MRM+ and allows users to adjust acquisition parameters in LabSolutions GCMS software. Pre-populated application databases are available for the GCMS-TQ8050 RX Series, while real-time instrument status monitoring and estimated completion times are designed to assist with consecutive analyses and routine lab scheduling.

The system also includes Peakintelligence for GCMS, an AI-based peak processing algorithm, as well as LabSolutions Insight and LabSolutions Explore for quantitative analysis support, spectral library searching, targeted and non-targeted analysis, and integrated data processing. Additional operating features include Easy sTop for injection-port maintenance without releasing vacuum and carrier-gas conservation tools that can reduce helium use or switch to nitrogen during standby periods.
